The Mooers Volunteer Fire Department began when a group of men got together on October 5, 1948 and decided to be the first department for the town of Mooers, NY.

     Since that first meeting in 1948, it has been the goal of the deparment to preserve that ideal of serving the people in the best way possible.

     Arthur Forkey was elected the first Fire Chief, Willard Orr, Assistant Chief, Albert Longtin, Secretary/Treasurer, and Floyd Dragoon the delegate to the Clinton County Firemen's Association
