Town of Mooers including Mooers Forks:

The Town of Mooers is located in the north central part of Clinton county, in the middle of a tier of three towns that form the northern border of Clinton County, Mooers is bordered on the north by Canada, and the west by Clinton and Ellenburg, by Altona on the south and on the SouthEast by Chazy, with Champlain on the East. It has an area of eighty three (83) Square miles. The town was formed from the Canada and Nova Scotia Refugee Tract, which was land set apart and given in small parcels by the state government to refugees from Canada and Nova Scotia, who had taken part in the Revolutionary War on the side of the Colonies. There are parts of bordering towns that are also made up of this tract. Not too many took advantage of this opportunity to settle in Mooers.....
