Announcement:

The Cemetery Committee is looking for volunteers to help with the Town Cemeteries. If you're interested and would like to donate even an hour of your time please email mooerscemetery@mooersny com. Indicate which cemetery you may be able to help with. The month of May will be a spring clean up month preparing the cemeteries for mowing. The New Riverside on Lavalley Road has a lot of debris on the Rec Park Fence line. We have taken a dead tree down as well, creating more branches to be disposed of. The plan is to get this area cleaned up, pile the old grass, leaves and branches and have a bonfire on a quiet night after the burn ban is over.

At this time the Historic Cemetery on Mill St/Rt 11 cannot allow children as volunteers. There are loose and unstable stones that can be a safety hazard. We are working towards a grant for funds to help Restore this beautiful Cemetery. I have an estimate from Vermont Memorials for the cost of repairing and straightening these stones which is about $16,000.00. Donations for this Restoration are welcome. Memorial Veterans Park: It will be erected on the Historic Riverside Cemetery land but it is not connected to the cemetery. Brick donations are for the Veterans Memorial Park and not for restoration of the Historic Riverside Cemetery.

The Union Cemetery on Rte. 11 in Mooers Forks is not ready to sell plots or lots, but does need spring cleaning. We do have a large Military Veteran Soldier Stone down at the Union Cemetery and will hopefully be able to erect that soon. If anyone would like to volunteer with the cleaning in this cemetery please email mooerscemetery@mooersny.com.

Individuals, family groups, church groups, school classes, clubs needing badges, high school students needing community service credits, please consider some volunteer time at our cemeteries. Thank you to anyone who has donated time or funds to these cemeteries.
